I remember reading that wrapping the sanitation hoses with saran wrap will temporarily stop the awful odor permeating from them until new hoses can be installed. We have measured for the new hose and will buy as soon as my husband is able to put them in. He has to have surgery this month so he won't be able to install them until he has recovered. I get to wrap with saran wrap but want to be sure it will help before I do it. How many layers of saran wrap is recommended? I know this is just a temporary fix but want to do it right just the same. Can't wait until the new hoses are installed and the smell is gone, gone, gone! Thanks for any tips or even the thread that talked about the saran wrap.

Saran Wrap--ONLY the Saran brand--does work...There is no recommended number of layers...just tear it off in lengths you can manage...lay it lengthwise along the hose and wrap tightly, overlapping each length. Secure the ends with electrical tape.

But if you and your hubby won't be able to use the boat till he's recovered from his surgery, why bother? If it were me, I'd use the time to rip out all the stinky hoses and get rid of the odor...so you and he can be ready to replace the hoses and start enjoying the boat again as soon as he's able.. You're just as capable of doing that much as he is.

Thank you so much for your reply Peg and for the vote of confidence that I can pull the old hoses out. I will probably be the one that does it anyway. But the good news is we can still stay on the boat while my hubby recovers from his surgery. And I understand the saran wrap is only a band aid, but a very welcome band aid for right now. We can't wait until this whole stinky mess is done!
Thanks again!
