I have 115hp Johnson OB on a 35' pontoon hull when I test drove this boat I was told they never went over 3000 rpm and said the boat wieght to much to go over that. Regardless of the wt arn't rpm's rpm's? Am I wrong to think that the same motor on a smaller boat would probably top out around 5000 rpms and there for would be the same on a houseboat. only the speed would change right? If so what would be top rpms on this motor? Not looking to break speed records here just a new boat and I am just wondering. I know you can play with props to get better speed, milage, ect.

You should prop the boat to at least 5000 RPM. Check with the builder of the boat. Most 35 footers are rated for more than a 115. Info should be on the boats data plate.

If full throut is 3000 rpm your over proped and over heating the engine. motor should run 5000 rpm or use lower degree prop
