I am unable to find a VIN number on the hull of our 1978 Kayot 14 x 55 houseboat. According to DMV it is suppose to be on the right rear of the boat. I have looked and can't find it.

Anyone have any ideas??

Thanks!!

Fred

It is supposed to be in the upper right corner of the transom, however.....

I have seen them everywhere. If the boat has a swim platform, look under the swim platform. That is the most likely place. (of course this is difficult to do if the boat is in the water.) I have seen them on the starboard (right) side, just forward of the transom, and even a few on the left side of the transom. A duplicate should be somewhere else on the boat but only the builder knows where, but on HBs I usually found them in the engine room, or under the helm console.

An update. Never did find the VIN, but was able to get it registered without any hassle. Had an old original registration/title from Arizona, DMV took it as fact so we have registration and new title. Here is what she looks like after a long weekend!
