Finally completed the trip from Jax to Tarpon Springs. (Approx. 600 miles) The raw water pump on one of the engines broke a shaft and the engine overheated. We did half the trip on the one engine. The fuel economy was about the same with one engine, just 2 knots slower. We ran outside, in the Atlantic, from Jax to Sebastian Inlet. The weather was nice but kicked up on us in so we ducked in there and took the ICW the rest of the way. The old girl took some 5 foot following seas fairly well. Here is a link to some photos of our journey. Photos

Great pics. Love the bed out in the open on the top deck. That's the best sleep you can get if you ask me.

Very cool. They need to make that ICW come out to the west coast.

Nice boat and pics. We made a similar trip, but not quite so long, when we brought our boat home. We picked it up in Tarpon Springs and traveled down to Sanibel, across the state, and up to Jensen Beach. We also lost an engine in the Gulf due to a failed water pump and made most of the trip on one engine. Those 5 locks are very interesting to maneuver on one engine of a twin engine boat. It's a beautiful trip. You came right by our house and boat shortly after you passed Fort Pierce. We're at marker 213 where the Indian River lagoon is several miles wide. If you're down this way again, stop in. It's hard to miss the blue and white houseboat.

Wonderful photos!! Thanks for sharing. I rarely look at the 'vintage' forum, but so glad I did. Your trip provides good inspiration to 'git 'er done.'

Thanks everyone. Big question now is how much damage I did to the engine when it overheated. I'm trying to get all the gauge working. The gauges only worked in the downstairs station. I just bought some new dual station senders and am in the process of installing them AND some alarms. Probably 90% of time at the helm will be the flybridge. Blown motors can put a serious damper on a fun project. Fingers crossed we didn't hurt it too bad.

Great post! And thanks for the pics. Did you guys come in at Sebastian? That is a wicked inlet!!! Every time I head down that way I always take time to go out on the jetty and watch the boats navigate that inlet. Lose a second engine in there and you are in a world of hurt.

Let us know what the verdict is on the repairs. - Scott
