Cook omlets for many persons, at one time, with many different ingredients in each one.
The night before or when you are ready, lay out ingredients for omlets in bowls, such as meats (bacon/sausage/fish/shrimp/crawfish or any other meats), cheese, onions (cooked or raw or both), mushrooms, tomatoes, sour cream and what ever else anyone likes to have in their custom made omlets.
Give each person a zip lock "sandwich size" baggie, with their name written on it. They will place their ingredients of choice into the baggie and give it to the cook. The cook then pours in the whipped egg. (I place a dozen or two into the blender).
Place in the refrigerator for safe overnight storage, of course.
The next morning or when all have completed, place the baggies in a pot of boiling water for 13 minutes. Then open and let each persons Gormet Omlet slide out onto the plate. This is fun for all involved. It is very easy to cook omlets of choice for many persons.

Hey Tom/ I am an omelette lover too. I think your idea is really cool except for one problem--some of the filler items need precooking before they go in the bag. Do you see a problem with that?

I have always had all items pre-cooked. Then I would place them in the bag with the egg. I have never tried it with raw meat.
I have only done this with 15 - 25 people to feed. I have never tried, just myself and wife. But it is easy, and does produce a product all love, without hovering over the stove for a long period.

Tom,
I'm told that you should use the better quality (thicker) zip-locks because the cheapies won't take the heat. Haven't tried it so I'm just passing along a comment that was in one of the RV publications when they pulled their support for the process.

I always do buy the good ones and never the cheap ones. I have never had a failure of the bag yet. I have prepared the omlet this way many times and always for many people at one time.
Even in trash bags I insist on quality, I do not want leaking or tearing on the way out of the house or boat to the can.

Hey Graybear,
I read my post again and found zip lock referenced. I do believe that is the name brand in my house, however, I must calrify furhter, Zip Lock tm - named brand not generic.
I do not know about heavy duty vs. light duty ones. This is the only one that I know about.
Did the motorcoach people really say this was not an accepted method of preparing Omlets??

Tom,
I usually buy generic (store brand) snap locking bags in the smaller sizes and they are a lot thinner than the real Zip Lock ones. I think that is what the RV people were worried about. They didn't say that the good ones wouldn't work and you have obviously proved that they do.

I looked at the Generic ones yesterday. I now know why a person would not want to use the the cheap ones. I believe they would melt in boiling water. I would not reccommend using the Generic, or cheap ones, spend the 50 cents more and but the good ones for this project.
