Back in the late 80's I sold our 40 River Queen Star Stream III in mint condition to a couple. 2 years later the inner chamber of the SB water pump failed. (Chrysler had 2 chamber pumps). I t burned a hole thru the exhaust hose and the boat sunk at the dock overnight, Total Loss. River Queen exhausts were partially below water line. Bummer

Engine rooms are full of potential leaks you never can tell what may go next. I think a good bilge alarm, backup pump, and a couple rolls of duct tape might be a good idea. You can get water flow and water pressure alarms that MIGHT alert you if water flow fails. How well they work though I can't verify.
