I kind of have to laugh- a failing company wants to sell, but are being picky about the new buyer? Seems to me that "someone familiar with the marine industry" is going to ask themselves "if the original company can't make money building their houseboats, what makes me think I can?"
Noble approach I guess, but the real world is pretty harsh... Good luck, Gibson.
I reached out to Gibson's emall listed as I would be interested in the acquisition but a week went by without so much as a reply.
I do deals all the time and that is enough to make me walk away.
Much of the time some new management with an eye on cost reductions and increased sales can save companies like Gibson.. But one thing you can't fix is stupid, or big egos.
Bet they wish they had took the money an ran after the tornado a couple of years ago.
I think all the big-boat manufacturers are going to have reduced sales for the next few years. The economy might be picking up but I think the days of easy credit are gone for a long time.
She's a tired old barge but she's paid for!
The email I received from Bill Brummett indicated that he was meeting with "the Chinese"
Well they DO have lots of money... mostly ours.

I was going to predict that another manufacturer might pick up the name and designs, like Thoroughbred did with Sumerset. The Chinese thing surprises me.
