Is it even possible to get covered in Fl?

    Hi all,

On the heels of a 6 month long renovation of our 1986 58ft Jamestowner, I have spent the last day or so trying to get insurance ahead of our scheduled launching this Friday evening. I knew it might be a bit if a challenge, but I was not expecting that virtually no insurance companies would write us a policy. Either the boat is too old, too long, or is not eligible due to being in Florida (despite being inland and freshwater on St. John's river). The few that are willing to write a policy are requiring a survey. I am really trying to avoid the cost of a $650+ survey if possible. Is anyone aware of a insurer who will write me a $300,000 liability-only policy without a haulout survey?

    Thanks in advance.

    Jake

Check on a rider on your homeowners policy.

Most insurance companies mandate an out of water survey prior to insurance issuance. And then one every two years after that.

    I always have used:

    Lynn Stem
    Kaigler & Company
    7028 Church St East
    Brentwood, TN, 37027
    615-376-0798

For insurance purposes, she specializes in this type for boats
