California group opposes permit proposal

February 2010 News Trade Only Today

Recreational Boaters of California is urging boaters to let the state's Water Resources Control Board know of their opposition to a proposed requirement that marinas and clubs with 10 or more slips and moorings obtain a state permit and comply with new regulations that could cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The proposal says it would be required of moorings and marinas located along the coast, bays, estuaries and certain freshwater mixing zones, such as the San-Joaquin Delta.

The control board plans to conduct stakeholder workshops next month and vote on the proposal in November.
