The houseboat problem in West Kelowna has caught the attention of a group in Vancouver.

Bill Sassaman, the spokesperson for the BC Nautical Residents Association says the organization was started to help houseboat owners like Keith Newcomb, who is moored in front of Kalamoir Regional Park.

Sassaman, who has been dealing with mooring issues in Vancouver for years, says he has some legal advice that supports Newcomb's cause.

"The fact that they do live aboard and it is their home. Can you take someones home, is that what the District does, do they come along and take peoples' homes."

Sassaman says even with the licence of occupation the District got from the province, houseboats still have the right to moor on Okanagan Lake.

An issue he plans on taking up with both the houseboat owners and the District of West Kelowna.
