An Unexpected Surprise

July 2016 News Web Exclusive

According to WBTW News13, the North Myrtle Beach Fire Department in South Carolina got an unusual call this past Saturday morning. The team set out to the Little River Swing Bridge and was joined by multiple rescue crews who came together to help a houseboat stuck underneath the bridge.

The crews reportedly used a ground ladder to help the sole person onboard, and a rescue boat team managed to tow the houseboat out from underneath the bridge so roadway and waterway traffic could continue. Luckily, this unusual accident was met with no injuries or damage to the bridge. Nice work, North Myrtle Beach Fire Department! It can get tricky with variable water levels, but let’s remember to keep an eye on those bridge heights…
