Possibly a condensed houseboat?

November 2013 Feature

Here's something a little quirky. The Italian company Lazzarini has created a floating pod that offers the same comforts as your houseboat but in much smaller package. It's aptly named the Jet Capsule. This boat is 25 feet long and a little over 11 feet wide and provides seating for eight, a diving platform, teak flooring, toilet, a bedroom conversion, and the ability to add a kitchen into the main compartment.

Just like a houseboat, the interior can be customized to your design preference and there's a rooftop platform for lounging in the sun. One of the more interesting components is a UFO light scheme inside, outside and underneath.

There are a couple of engine options. You can go with a Hamilton water jet engine, which puts out over 300 diesel-powered horsepower and will get the vessel up to a cruising speed of 25 knots. Or you can opt for a twin-engine setup that increases output to over 500 hp.

According to the design tean, the Jet Capsule was created as "a boat small enough to be easily maneuvered, yet spacious enough to take a handful of friends out for drinks, over to a port for an evening's entertainment."

Pricing isn't available yet, but it's sure to be considerably more expensive than your average boat. Visit http://www.jetcapsule.com/MainSite/JetCapsuleConcept.html for more info.
