Cook Your Food on Your Engine

Who needs a galley?

October 2017 Feature Heather Magda Serrano Web Exclusive

Feeling hungry and adventurous? Why not cook a nice warm meal… on your boat engine. Seriously. If it’s hot enough, you can definitely cook something on it. It just makes sense. People have been cooking meals on their vehicle engines for years, so why not on our houseboat engines?

It’s kind of something you have to try at least once in your life. Cooking on your boat engine can most easily be accomplished if you have a sterndrive or inboard engine. Then from there it’s pretty simple.

First prepare your food and wrap it securely with around three layers of tin foil. Then you just position it on a flat, safe surface on your engine. You can also secure it if necessary. And that’s it! Just take it off when it’s cooked and bon appétit. You just cooked your meal in a refreshingly unorthodox way.

Who needs a galley? We’ve got engines.
