The Tale of McBarge

August 2020 Multimedia

The McBarge has come on an incredible journey since it served as McDonald’s floating restaurant on False Creek in 1986.

Since Expo 86, the once-popular barge has been vacant and has suffered through disrepair and vandalism. It bobbed ominously on the surface of the Fraser River. However, now the new owner Howard Meakin refurbished the McBarge and has plans for it to become the Deep Discovery Centre, a place where people can go to learn about ocean technology.

Here’s another very informative video all about the incredible history of the McBarge.
