2006 Powell Update

November 2005 News

Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas has announced its 2006 schedule of operations featuring year-round operations at Wahweap, Dangling Rope, Bullfrog, Hite and Halls Crossing facilities. Concessions include lodging, camping, houseboat and powerboat rentals, marina store and fuel services, as well as tour boat activities will remain open at the property's Wahweap Marina facilities.

Food and beverage concessions will also remain open as critically acclaimed chef Brandon Shubert, Executive Chef, continues to prepare authentic flavors of the region serving guests breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Rainbow Room located in Lake Powell Resort.

"Bullfrog will have year-round family units, camping, houseboat and powerboat rentals, fuel, grocery and related services," said Gib Johnson, Vice President of Operations, Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas.  "Additionally, Hite will have family units, pay at the pump fuel and land-based store with Winter operating hours; Dangling Rope will operate pay at the pump fuel and land-based store with Winter operating hours; while Halls Crossing also will have year-round family units, camping, fuel and related services."

Water-based updates include the addition of 12 new houseboats to Lake Powell's existing fleet, including six new 75-foot luxury Excursion-class houseboats, designed to compliment the marinas' 75-foot Odyssey-class houseboats that were introduced in 2004, and six new 46-foot Expedition-class houseboats.  The 12 new houseboats will be available for rental in the Spring.

Land-based updates planned for the upcoming Winter season feature over $1 million in renovations to nearly one-third of Lake Powell Resort's 348 rooms.  The upgrades include installing 27-inch Sony televisions, voice mail service, mirrored closet doors, new vanity mirrors and lights.  Additional amenity upgrades include new vanity countertops, lampshades, drapes and bedspreads, as well as carpeting for six buildings.

"In addition, we are planning to spend $700,000 to completely upgrade 53 lake view rooms in buildings two and three of Lake Powell Resort and will be replacing tubs and showers in 119 rooms, as well as installing $35,000 in new mattresses," said Johnson.
