"Unlimited" TowBoatU.S. and Vessel Assist Towing Plans Now $53 Annually
If you boat on the Great Lakes or other fresh water across North America, BoatU.S. has now made on-the-water towing assistance more affordable with a 70 percent price reduction on `inland' towing plans.
Similar to roadside auto clubs that provide assistance to motorists, BoatU.S.' TowBoatU.S. and Vessel Assist "unlimited" towing plans for recreational boaters on freshwater lakes and rivers are now $34 a year - plus $19 annual BoatU.S. membership - for a combined total of just $53 annually, a savings of $86 off the former price of $139 annually.
"With the general costs of boating on the rise, we have made this service more affordable and hope to give more boaters peace of mind knowing that they will never be alone on the water," said BoatU.S. Vice President of Towing Services Jerry Cardarelli.
Services are provided by the largest fleet of towboats in the nation with over 500 towing assistance vessels equipped to handle fuel drop offs, battery jumps, soft ungroundings and tows back to the marina or launch ramp. "When the engine or battery dies, you accidentally run out gas or run aground on a shoal, there is nothing like having a calm voice at the end of the line telling you that help is on its way," Cardarelli added.
If boaters do not have an annual towing plan, on-the-water towing service companies typically charge between $200 - $250 an hour, with the national cost per towing incident in 2007 averaging about $600.
