Skippers appreciate the ability to easily monitor and control all electronics systems from a single integrated cockpit display. This now extends to JBL stereos, as Prospec Electronics and Medallion Instrumentation Systems combine their expertise to feed JBL controls into Medallion's multiplexed dashboard display.
Owners can now use Medallion's Graphical MUX Switch to turn Prospec's JBL stereos on and off, adjust volume and select stations. The Medallion display interfaces with many JBL models, including black box products, which are remotely accessed from a protected, out-of-the-way area to avoid water damage. Additional JBL waterproof faceplates, with station pre-sets and fine-tuning functions, can be mounted in other convenient onboard locations.
Medallion's customized multiplexed switch module also monitors or controls boat systems such as engine function, engine faults, ballast tanks, fuel gauges, trim tabs and other electronics. Switch functions appear on the unit's LCD display that gets brighter in direct sunlight for easy viewing. This compact unit's front panel measures 7.7" W x 2.5" H x .5" D. Each module comes pre-programmed with a multitude of switch and display options based on the boat into which they're installed. Owners can further customize system controls to their preferences.
"By using our MUX stereo interface module, basic JBL stereo controls are neatly integrated with the rest of the electronic systems on the dash display," said Lance Norris, Medallion sales manager. "No other multiplexed system can control the stereo through a switch module just like a factory remote." This unique collaboration of technologies is currently used on 90% of Malibu's boat models.
The system is a direct result of the close working relationship between Medallion and Prospec. "The best compliment anyone can give a company is that they're easy to do business with. Prospec knows their products, understands the rugged requirements of this industry and embraces the value of system integration," said Norris.
