Vetus launches new engine line

October 2009 News

Dutch marine diesel manufacturer Vetus announced the launch of its VF Series, which it says is a line of lighter and quieter engines.

Models include 4-cylinder (140-hp/170-hp) and 5-cylinder (220-hp/250-hp). The VF Series uses high-pressure pumps to deliver fuel at pressure levels of more than 20,000 psi and electronically controlled injectors inject multiple bursts of fuel into the cylinder chamber, creating the smooth, quiet and efficient combustion that conserves fuel and reduces operating costs.

"The new VF Series engine is also such an innovation for us here at Vetus and for the marine industry as a whole because of its 'Tier 2' EPA [Environmental Protection Agency] rating, which makes it a cleaner, more fuel-efficient diesel engine which is something we can all be truly proud of," said Jay Stockmann, executive vice president for Vetus America, in a statement.
