Survey to assess industry's labor needs

October 2010 News Trade Only Today

The Marine Industry Training & Education Council is conducting a labor-needs assessment survey.

The National Skills Coalition will meet Nov. 15 with White House and congressional leaders to discuss the Sectors Act of 2010. The law focuses on building new work-force pipelines where skilled worker shortages exist, transforming the ways the labor pool is utilized, retrained and compensated.

"Your input is invaluable in demonstrating the work-force development needs of the marine industry," according to the council, which will represent the industry at this meeting. "To date, we have 150 responses, but we need at least 500 to build our case."
