Grant to aid houseboat industry

A $252,000 federal grant announced this week hopes to revitalize Southeastern Kentucky's ailing houseboat manufacturing industry. The Economic Development Administration's grant will help convert those facilities to build new modular energy-efficient houses, according to a statement.

The recipients, the Kentucky Highlands Community Development Corp. of London and University of Kentucky Research Foundation, expect the project to create 36 jobs and generate $250,000 in private investment.
