If you’re looking for the perfect modern houseboat that says “big romance,” Amsterdam-based design and engineering practice Studio OBA has just the vessel for you: Prenuptial Housing that can split in two.
No, wait. If you’re looking for something that says “big romance—for now…” it doesn’t get much more obvious than this. According to Domain.com, this modern (in more ways than one) houseboat is designed from two individual units of lightweight carbon-fiber elements and wood that can be put together and pulled apart as often as your relationship up-and-downs require. Self-proclaimed PR and pop culture expert Omar Kiri teamed up with Studio OBA to sketch out the nitty gritty for making Prenuptial Housing a reality. They hope to build a prototype and begin taking orders by the beginning of next year.
“With the increasing number of divorces each year, our concept is – regrettably – becoming more and more relevant,” Kiri explained.
He might have a point—particularly for those in Belgium, Portugal and Hungary where divorce rates are supposedly some of the highest worldwide—but, you know, there might be something to be said for self-fulfilling prophecies here, too.
