Sure, you’ve been boating on one of the most popular houseboating lakes up one way and down the other—but have you ever swam the length of it?
Conifer, Colo., native Sarah Thomas has. According to 9News.com, this talented woman recently completed a non-stop 81.8-mile swim through Lake Powell in the hopes of breaking a record for the “longest known unassisted solo swim.” With only a swimsuit, ear plugs, goggles, and a committed team to keep pace with her by boat, Thomas completed the nearly 60-hour-long journey without touching the watch boat or receiving any outside help.
“My team was reading me all of the encouraging comments, inspiring notes and Facebook posts from all of my friends and family, and that really kept me going,” Thomas told 9News.com. This amazing woman started her swim this past Tuesday and finished this past Thursday afternoon, and after swimming through dark and windy nights, it’s got to feel good to be back on dry land.
