Houseboat Sinks on New Melones

January 2019 News

Robert Taylor of Angels Camp, Cal., received some unfortunate news on the morning of January 17, 2019. New Melones Lake Marina reported that his 50-foot houseboat had been capsized and sunk by the winter storm. The marina manager Garrett Collum recalls that it’s been years since an incident like this has occurred and that it was sort of a freak accident. Taylor said it's just a guess at this point when it comes to knowing costs on raising and repairing his houseboat. Taylor and his family not only lost household items, but personal items like photographs as well. Taylor and marina management believe the wind played a large part in flipping the boat and that the waves took it from there.
