Every Boat Is Safer With a Thirsty-Mate Hand Pump Onboard

February 2022 News

There are many reasons why a boat may have water in it, from something minor like a poorly draining scupper to a pulse-racing emergency such as a failed thru-hull. The original patented Thirsty-Mate® hand pump from Beckson Marine makes it fast and easy to dewater a vessel. And with a wide range of sizes, capacities and overboard exhausting options, there's a model available to keep every boat safer.

Made in the USA, Thirsty-Mate hand pumps are manufactured from a unique self-lubricating, non-rusting polyvinyl. With solvent-welded construction, they remain solidly rigid even when pumping hard.

Unlike metal pumps, Beckson Thirsty-Mates pumps won't damage gelcoat or brightwork if accidentally knocked against it. Virtually maintenance-free, the foot valve removes for quick and easy cleaning if a clog occurs.

Self-priming Thirsty-Mate hand pumps have an angled top sleeve to direct water overboard. Many models are also available with an auxiliary rigid tube or flexible hose for additional discharge adaptability.

Thirsty-Mate hand pumps are highly efficient and simple to use. Each stroke of the bright red contoured handle moves a massive amount of water—up to 13 gallons per minute on some models.

The most compact model, Thirty-Mate model 118 is 18" L with a 1-1/4" dia, body. Ideal for smaller boats, 10 strokes will pump a gallon of water for a total capacity of six gpm. It's available as a standalone pump or with a 20" rigid tube or flexible extension hose.

Slightly larger, model 124 Thirsty-Mate hand pump is 24" L x 1-3/4" dia. Six strokes evacuate a gallon of water with a 10 gpm capacity. It's offered separately or with a 24" or 72" flexible hose.

Thirsty-Mate version 136 pumps 13 gpm, moving a gallon of water with only four strokes. It measures 36" L x 1-3/4" dia. and is available with a 36", 72" or 108" flexible tube or just the pump.

Version 224 is 24" L with a 1-1/2" dia. body. It has an eight gpm capacity, moving a gallon of water with seven strokes, and is offered pump-only or with a 24" flexible hose.

Finally, Thirsty-Mate model 230 pumps 10 gpm and one gallon with six strokes. Offered only with a 32" flexible hose, it measures 30" L with a 1-1/2" dia. pump body.

Beckson Marine Thirsty-Mate version 118 starts at $37.80; 124 at $45.20; 136, $52.25; 224, $46.15; and model 230, $57.95. Spare parts, hoses and the optional Float Sleeve are readily available.
